This one and a half day, instructor-led, certificate program is a rigorous classroom training program custom-tailored to equip students with fundamental and extensive knowledge of drilling operations. This training course is designed for all experience levels and will provide value for any horizontal directional drilling (HDD) position in your company, such as drill crew members, including operators (new to experienced), managers, and safety supervisors.
This comprehensive program provides knowledge to your team from our Certified HDD Specialist Trainers who have over 50 years of collective experience supporting Vermeer drills in countless job-site scenarios. Our team possesses expert level knowledge, which will equip your crews to succeed in the field.
The Vermeer HDD Simulator gives the operator a realistic and authentic experience while learning.
Course Curriculum
The instructor-led, classroom training will equip students with fundamental and extensive knowledge of drilling operations. This training will support best practice drill operations and maximum job site efficiency. Each student will learn the fundamentals of HDD, including mud mixing techniques, preventive maintenance, tooling usage, DCI locating, safe operating procedures, job site efficiency and more.
HDD Simulator Virtual Reality
This separately priced, add-on HDD simulator option provides students with hands-on learning in a virtual reality setting. Students will learn and practice drilling, bore plans and more. The simulator may be reserved in 4-hour increments and will be highly valued by your crew. This virtual reality opportunity provides best-in-class, hands-on learning for drill operators and will benefit your company by reducing costly mistakes on the job in the field.
HDD Fundamentals Kit
Each student enrolled in the class will receive a Vermeer HDD Fundamentals training kit which they will use as reference in the field. The kit includes:

Comprehensive Report Card
A comprehensive report card gives operators consistent and accurate feedback that reflects their operation abilities to show where they excelled as well as areas that need improvement.
The operator will be given a score after they finish. This is a graded course that will be evaluated by an Vermeer HDD Specialist.
Class Duration
Each session is about 4 hours long. You can have 2 trainees complete the course at the same time.
Who this course is meant for
This simulator can be used for any new crew member, current operator, owner, foreman, or anyone else in the HDD business no matter their experience. There is always something new to learn when it comes to HDD. Seasoned operators benefit as much as new crew members. Many HDD professionals return frequently to continue honing their skills.
